About Brows
Brows: your questions
What are the best eyebrow products for beginners?
Brow powder and a tinted brow gel are the easiest for beginners. Powder gives a soft, forgiving fill with an angled brush, and tinted gel adds colour while setting hairs. Move to a fine pencil once you want more precise, hair-like strokes.
Why do I get dry skin around my eyebrows?
Dry skin around the eyebrows usually comes from cold, dry air, harsh cleansers, hard water or skipping moisturiser in that area. If the flakes are greasy, itchy or keep coming back, it may be a skin condition, so see a dermatologist.
How do I get rid of dry skin on my eyebrows?
Use a gentle cleanser, avoid scrubs on the brow area and apply moisturiser through the brows every night. Rinse with lukewarm rather than hot water. If flaking does not improve within a couple of weeks, ask a dermatologist for advice.
Is brow gel or eyebrow pencil better?
They do different jobs. A pencil fills gaps and shapes sparse brows, while a gel grooms and holds hairs in place. Full brows may only need gel; sparse brows look best with pencil first and gel on top.
Which brow shape is best for a square face?
A softly rounded arch is usually best for a square face. It balances a strong jawline and angular features, while a sharp, angled arch can make the face look harder.
How do I choose the right eyebrow pencil shade?
Choose a shade one tone lighter than your hair if your hair is very dark, or match it if your hair is light. For black hair, soft dark brown usually looks more natural than jet black, especially in daylight.
Can I make my brow makeup last in the heat?
Yes. Mattify the brow area with a little powder, use a waterproof pencil or pomade, and finish with a firm-hold brow gel. Avoid touching your brows through the day, and blot sweat gently rather than wiping.
