About Eye Lashes
Eye Lashes: your questions
What are false lashes made of?
False lashes are made from synthetic fibres, faux mink or human hair attached to a thin band. Synthetic fibres hold their curl well and are easy to clean, while human hair styles look very soft and natural but lose their shape faster in humidity.
What is eyelash glue?
Eyelash glue is an adhesive made to hold false lashes on the lash line. It goes on white or clear and dries clear, or comes in black to double as liner. Choose latex-free glue if you have sensitive eyes, and never apply it to the waterline.
How do I use an eyelash curler?
Open the curler, place it at the base of clean, mascara-free lashes and squeeze gently for five seconds. Move it halfway up the lashes and squeeze again for a softer curve. Always curl before mascara, and replace the rubber pad when it wears down.
What is a lash lift and tint?
A lash lift and tint is a salon service that curls your natural lashes upwards with a setting solution and darkens them with a lash dye. It lasts several weeks. Ask for a patch test beforehand, as the solutions can irritate sensitive eyes.
Are false eyelashes bad for your eyes?
Not when they are used with care. Problems usually come from sharing lashes, sleeping in them, glue on the waterline or pulling them off dry. Clean them, keep them to yourself, remove them gently each night and stop if your eyes become red or itchy.
Do eyelash serums work?
Conditioning lash serums can help lashes look softer, glossier and healthier, especially if they break easily. Be wary of any product promising dramatic growth; check its ingredients with a pharmacist or doctor, and stop if the lid becomes red or irritated.
